‘Absolutely no relief’: Dexter says shutdown deal ignores healthcare affordability crisis

Dexter said constituents are facing premium increases of 200-300% without the tax credit extensions.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Oregon Rep. Maxine Dexter defended her vote against the bill ending the 43-day government shutdown, saying it failed constituents facing skyrocketing healthcare costs.

In an interview on KGW’s “Straight Talk,” the freshman Democrat, who represents most of Multnomah County and Portland east of the Willamette River, said that her district urged her to “hold the line” despite the historic impasse.
