A short circuit in the engine block heater increases the risk of an under-hood fire, according to documents Ford filed with federal regulators.
DEARBORN, Mich. — Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 59,000 vehicles across 10 models due to engine block heaters that may crack and leak coolant, creating a potential fire hazard.
The recall affects certain Ford Explorer, Ranger, Bronco, Bronco Sport, Maverick, Escape, Fusion, Lincoln MKC and Lincoln Corsair vehicles equipped with 2.0-liter or 2.3-liter engines and engine block heater systems.
