Portland ICE facility protests and law enforcement response take their toll on nearby businesses, residents

The visit Tuesday of DHS Secretary Kristi Noem heightened the impact of Portland’s South Waterfront ICE facility and the protests against it.

PORTLAND, Ore. — Between the Trump administration, the city of Portland, protesters, and the residents and businesses of the South Waterfront, events at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building on South Macadam Avenue have become a nonstop source of friction centered on a very small area of the city.

Just blocks away, Portlanders who spoke with KGW on Tuesday were completely unfazed.
