With many federal tariffs going into effect, some shop owners say price adjustments have already changed consumers’ behavior.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Some Portland business owners say federal tariffs have directly forced them to raise prices at their stores, leading to lower sales.
On Thursday, many of the Trump administration’s proposed global tariffs went into effect — taxes on imported goods typically from ranging from 10% to 50%.
In April, KGW talked with three Portland small business owners about their products and industries that could be affected by the proposed federal tariffs. Since then, the uncertainty over tariff impacts has become much more certain.
