Federal money could give a boost to Oregon’s mass timber industry

Oregon’s mass timber industry is a semifinalist for a federal “Regional Innovation Engine” grant aimed at research and development that will fuel economic growth.

EUGENE, Ore. — A major boost could be coming to Oregon’s mass timber industry. Researchers at the University of Oregon led an initiative that has just been selected as a semi-finalist for the National Science Foundation’s “Regional Innovation Engines” program. The selected proposals could get up to $15 million for two years and $160 million over 10 years.
