Oregon’s unemployment rate sits at 4.8%, higher than the national average of 4.1%, as the region’s layoffs affect Intel, Nike and PGE employees.
PORTLAND, Ore. — More than 50 Portland General Electric employees are now out of work, following a wave of layoffs announced by the company earlier this week, just the latest in a series announced by local employers.
PGE confirmed the cuts will impact 330 positions, including 53 full-time employees, 123 contract workers and the elimination of 154 unfilled job openings.
