VANCOUVER, Wash. — A new 6-cent gas tax hike is now in effect across Washington state, pushing pump prices even higher for drivers already paying some of the steepest fuel costs in the country.
The increase, which began July 1, is part of a broader state transportation funding plan aimed at repairing aging infrastructure and offsetting declining gas tax revenues.
