Seahawk Bringing Wings to Seattle

Last October, Bellevue celebrated the grand opening of the Seattle area’s first ever Wingstop restaurant location on Main Street. Since, the restaurant, which was brought to Bellevue by general manager and wing fanatic Greg Southern II, has been hugely successful and already attracted a community of dedicated regular customers. Now, Seattle Seahawk Sidney Rice is working to bring more locations of the Texas chain to the area. Rice, will partner with the current owner-operators of the Bellevue location to open five new Wingstop locations in the Seattle-Tacoma area. “I think the made-to-order quality and awesome flavors of Wingstop wings is what sets them apart from fast food options in Seattle,” said Rice. “And unlike other wing places, Wingstop has a family atmosphere, so it fits in with the community. I know it will be a big hit as we continue to expand throughout Seattle.” Wingstop, which was founded in 1994, and is headquartered in Texas, has quickly spread to have over 600 locations across the country, everywhere from Oklahoma to Florida, yet before the opening of this Bellevue location, only had two other restaurants located in Washington state, in Pasco and Richland. Wingstop focuses on a 1930s and 1940s nostalgic aviation theme, and each location is decorated accordingly. The menu offers a variety of chicken wing flavors including the more traditional ‘Original Hot’ and ‘Mild’ to the more exotic ‘Teriyaki’ and ‘Mango Habanero.’ If you are bold enough, Wingstop also serves up flaming hot ‘Atomic’ wings, which they claim speak for themselves. Each order of wings at Wingstop is made fresh and cooked-to-order. If you aren’t in the mood for wings, they also offer Glider sandwiches in the same flavors as the wings, which consist of a white meat filet in a baked yeast roll. The menu also includes a selection of freshly made sides including cheese fries and bourbon baked beans. Rice, who was raised in South Carolina, and signed Seattle Seahawks in 2011, where he currently plays at wide receiver, calls Wingstop his favorite restaurant and plans to bring his own passion for the flavor-packed chicken to this business venture.
