With a host of familiar names, the Langley Thunder were probably a popular pick when Western Lacrosse Association onlookers went about predicting a league champion at the start of the summer.
The Nanaimo Timbermen didn’t likely receive similar consideration.
It’s the star-studded Thunder and the unheralded Timbermen, though, who are the last two teams standing and they’ll square off in a best-of-seven league finale beginning tonight at the Langley Events Centre. The winner moves on to visit the Ontario champion for the Mann Cup, Canada’s national Senior A boxla title.
