Portland Fire & Rescue, the City of Vancouver and PDX held ceremonies to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001.
PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland firefighters held a ceremony Saturday morning to commemorate 20 years since the 9/11 attacks.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed on September 11, 2001, when terrorists hijacked four planes and crashed into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Of those deaths, more than 300 were firefighters.
Dozens of firefighters, some of them retired, attended the ceremony at Firehouse 1 off Southwest Ash Street to honor those lives lost. Some shared stories about the fateful day, and a
