Man shot in early morning break in

SHORELINE — A man was shot after police say he broke into a shoreline home early Thursday morning.

The suspect sustained possibly life-threatening injuries when the homeowner shot him in the upper thigh.

Police say the family of four heard someone trying to kick-in their front door around 3 a.m. They hid in a bedroom and called 911.

When they heard the suspect break the front window, the father went to the front of the house with his 9mm handgun. He fired two rounds at the suspect, hitting him once.

The 41-year-old suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center.

The homeowner is not expected to be charged with any crime.
