John Schallberger, executive director of the Forest Grove Senior and Community Center, will resign after two years at the helm, a board member from the center confirmed Thursday.
Aldi Howard, who sits on the center’s board of directors, said Schallberger notified the board’s president Jeff Duyck of his intentions last week.

The board called a meeting shortly after, where Schallberger said “he was going to seek other employment,” he said.
“It came to a shock to all of us,” Howard said. “We’ve got to get organized and see exactly what we are going to do.”
The director’s last day will be June 11.
The center will seek a replacement for the position in the coming weeks.
