ART

Interested in Arts & Crafts? Local vendors and artisans offer their wares at several area craft shows, fairs, and studios. December 5 & 7, the Holiday Art Walk at ’57 Biscayne Artists’ Studios features gifts created by artists in residence. Take a walk through and support local art with your shopping.

The Winter Holiday Sale is held from December 6 -24 at the Seward Park Clay Studio. The event features showings from amateur and professional potters as well as sale items.

December 13-14, celebrate at the Fa-La-La Holiday Sale with live music and a variety of handmade gifts from over 30 local artists. The event is being held at the Schack Art Center and the first 50 people on Friday morning will receive a free gift!

CLASSICAL MUSIC

Some of the most beautiful holiday music is presented at classical concerts in the area. The Seattle Symphony is presenting a show of traditional holiday favorites on December 10-11.

The Seattle Choral Company’s show is entitled: “An Irish Christmas: Carols and Anthems from the Emerald Isle” on December 13 and 14 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral.

Don’t miss the Pacific Sound Chorus’s “Once Upon a Holiday” on December 15 at the Kirkland Performance Center!

POP MUSIC

If classical music isn’t your favorite and you prefer more contemporary sounds, check out José Feliciano on December 12 at the Snoqualmie Casino.

There’s always Christmas with Elvis on December 13-14 at the Auburn Avenue Theater or the David Lanz Holiday Concert on December 21 at the Tim Noah Thumbnail Theater.

FESTIVALS

Check out the Bellevue Magic Season Ice Area for open air skating open through January 12 in Bellevue Downtown Park. I bet there will be hot chocolate!

At the Cougar Mountain Zoo, the Issaquah Reindeer Festival, with Santa visits, reindeer, and even animal feeding will be enjoyed throughout December.

The Lights of Christmas is still going strong through December 29 at the Warm Beach Conference Center. They have ONE MILLION lights and five entertainment stages. There are activities for all ages, prizes, food, and more.

THEATER

The holidays always brings out excellent shows. The classic, A Christmas Carol is playing at the ACT Theatre through December 29.

Other classics include Annie, through December 22 at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse, and Miracle on 34th Street at the ManeStage Theatre at the Sumner Performing Arts Center through Decmber.

DANCE

Multiple dance troupes are performing The Nutcracker throughout the season. Check listings at the ballet or dance theatre nearest you for show times.

Work off some of those Thanksgiving pounds by getting out and about to celebrate some local events. This is just a small sampling of what is available. Theaters, churches, art centers, and even boats are hosting activities for the whole family to get into the Christmas spirit!
