Pickup crashes down embankment into Tualatin River in Gaston, injures 1 person

One person was taken to a hospital with apparent minor injuries after a pickup went off a roadway and crashed down an embankment into the Tualatin River in Gaston on Thursday, authorities say.

The crash was reported about 3:20 p.m., near Southwest Lee Falls Road and Nixon Drive. The people inside the damaged pickup got out and walked nearly half a mile to the nearest home for help, according to the Gaston Rural Fire District.

The cause of the crash is under police investigation. The amount of people in the vehicle and their identities has not been released.
